Buzzkill

Down the street from my middle school, there's an elementary school. This elementary school, which feeds into our middle school, was in the local news today. Why, you ask? Because two students were allegedly selling weed to other students inside the school. Yup, 9 and 10 year olds were hustling. That alone is heartbreaking, but the local ABC News video is even more so. Why are we smirking during a serious interview about something that happened at your child's school? Why is it funny?

Sadly though, I'm not shocked by much of it. Not dry snitching by any means, but the blocks of Southwest Philly have been hot all school year for some reason. And when the block is hot, the kids behave differently, and this year has been a doozy.
